OBITUARY:Marie Hall Harfoush

Wilmington - Marie Trask Hall Harfoush, 85, of Wilmington, NC, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of James Etheridge Hall Jr. and Marie Trask Hall. Marie enjoyed her childhood in the Winter Park neighborhood of Wilmington with her younger brothers, as well as her first cousins, Lillie Whaley, Doris Droke, and Jack Farrar.

Photographs held dear by her loved ones show Marie as a beautiful young lady posing with friends in local dress shops in the years before she graduated from New Hanover High School in 1954. From there she began a career in government public service, working first for the Corps of Engineers before retiring from US Customs. Throughout her life, she was a devout member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church, where many in her family were baptized and married.

Marie loved going to the beach to watch the waves and reading her seemingly never-ending stack of books. She also enjoyed gardening, bridge club, and British dramas. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for her willingness to play along with their make believe games, her beloved Belkie Bears, and for letting them stay up past their bedtimes to watch the occasional episode of Cheers.

Marie was fortunate to find the love of her life in her marriage to Edward J. Harfoush. They had many great years together filled with loving banter and butterscotch sweets. Her family's grief at her passing is alleviated in the knowledge that Ed and Marie will be reunited with Christ in Heaven.

Marie is survived by her children, Lynn Noudewo (Emmanuel) and Mark Williamson (fiancée Jennifer Gwiazdowski), as well as her stepchildren Toni H. Benson (Terry) and Tina H. Beamer (Clyde). She had two granddaughters, Noelle Noudewo and Jenna Williams (Josh). She had five step-grandchildren, Val Edwards Jr. (Mary Burr), Stephanie Earp (Scott), Kate Scott (Jason), Robyn Parker, and David Beamer (Danika). She was blessed with twelve step great grandchildren and one step great great granddaughter. She will also be remembered by her brothers, Dr. David J. Hall (Toni) and James L. Hall (Gail).

We would like to thank the wonderfully devoted team of women, some of whom came from God's Girls of Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, who cared for Marie in her home over the past year. The excellent care they provided gave the family peace of mind to support Marie's wishes to remain comfortable and joyful in her own home.

The family will hold a private celebration of life memorial service at Coble Funeral Home at a later time and date.
